On October 3rd & 4th 2015, The Southshore School for A Level Studies will be hosting its fifth annual ShoreMUN conference for O Level schools. Students will receive two days of training to introduce them to the MUN platform and conference. All students will receive certificates of participation and outstanding delegates will be recognized through awards.

ShoreMUN is a conference that enables young public speakers to compete in an environment that is geared to test their ability to think and act on the spot, come up with innovative solutions and work together with diverse individuals.

Muhammad Umer Irfan will be serving as the Secretary General of the Conference. Mr. Irfan, an IBA Alumnus, has over 6 years of public speaking experience that he brings to ShoreMUN. Harvard WorldMUN winner, Chair of DISEC at the Model United Nations Turkey (MUNTR) in 2012 and former President of Model United Nations IBA Karachi (MUNIK), we hope that you will gain from the knowledge and experience he brings to the conference.

ShoreMUN 2015 will be the biggest this year since its inception with over 200 delegates participating in 5 action packed committees. For this year, the committees are as follows:

1. GA First Committee – Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC)

2. GA Third Committee – Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM)

3. GA Fourth Committee – Special, Political and De-colonization Committee (SPECPOL)

4. United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR)

5. United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC)

Registration for ShoreMUN 2015 has concluded. Southshore will welcome teams from Bay View Academy, Convent of Jesus & Mary, Education Bay, Froebel Education Centre, Happy Home School, Hampton School, Mrs. Haque’s Academy, River Oaks Academy, St. Paul’s English High School, The AMI School, The C.A.S. School, The City School, The Indus Academy and The International School. We look forward to welcoming the delegates to Southshore for training sessions and the conference!

All registered delegates must attend both Mandatory training sessions to be held at the Southshore campus. The dates and times are:

Friday, September 11th from 2.30 – 4.30pm
Friday, September 18th from 2.30 – 4.30pm

Please ensure that you arrive a few minutes before the scheduled time as it will be necessary to begin the training sessions on time.
